Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check that the router is broadcasting the SSID, that the Wi-Fi adapter is turned on, and that the device supports the 5 GHz/6 GHz band.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Band and signal check
Get close to the router, compare with another device and check for 5/6 GHz support.
Steps to follow
- Open the Wi-Fi list on your watch and approach your router.
- If your bands have separate names, try a supported 2.4 or 5 GHz network with your own password.
- Compare the same list on your phone or other device. If one does not see 5/6 GHz, check its adapter support by model.
- If the band names are generic or there is no choice, don't rename them randomly - check your router's manual.
Adding a hidden network
If the SSID is intentionally not broadcast, enter the exact network name and security type.
Steps to follow
- Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
- Select "Network and Internet".
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Select "Manage known networks".
- Select "Add Network".
- Enter the exact SSID, Security Type and Password provided by your administrator.
- If the network is hidden, select the default connection option for it, if provided.
- Save and test the connection; Don't guess the SSID and security type.
Adapter and router settings
If the network is not visible only on this device, check the adapter; if nowhere - SSID broadcast on the router.
Steps to follow
- On another device, check if your Wi-Fi name is visible.
- If no one can see it, according to the router manual, log into your administration and look at the SSID broadcast in the Wireless/Wi-Fi section.
- If only one computer is not visible, check the Wi-Fi adapter and manufacturer's driver in its Device Manager.
- Change only known setting and compare; contact the administrator on the work network.
If the problem persists
Try the network with another device and move closer to the router. If the network is hidden, enter its exact SSID and security type; 6 GHz network requires appropriate hardware support.
