Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Update the Wi-Fi adapter driver and router software, change the location and channel of the router, check if the problem is repeated on other devices.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Connection on another network
Compare with another network to determine if the computer or home Wi-Fi is at fault.
Steps to follow
- Enable a personal Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone and write down its name and password.
- Select that network from the PC's Wi-Fi list and connect.
- Try the same sites or wait until it disconnects again. For comparison, consider the mobile data limit.
- If the other network works, check the first network; if not, PC adapter or settings.
Adapter driver
If only one device disconnects, check its model's Wi-Fi package and sleep conditions.
Steps to follow
- Note down the exact computer model from the sticker or Settings > System > About.
- Open the official support page of the computer manufacturer, enter the model and select the version of Windows installed.
- Download the following package: Graphics, Sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB/Chip or Special Keys. Don't use generic "all drivers" sites.
- Run the downloaded installation file, run the manufacturer's wizard and reboot if prompted.
- Try the function that didn't work again. If there is no network, download the package on another device and transfer to USB.
Router channels and firmware
If multiple devices disconnect, check location, channel and model for correct update with stable power.
Steps to follow
- According to the model guide, log in to the administration of your router.
- In the Wireless/Wi-Fi section, make a note of the current channel and if the manual says so, try the automatic channel.
- Check the firmware only on the official page of the model; save setup and ensure power supply before upgrade.
- After one change, compare the connection. For a vendor-controlled device, coordinate changes with the vendor.
If the problem persists
Check if other devices also disconnect and if the problem only occurs after sleep. Compare with other network; update the firmware only according to the specific model and without interrupting the power supply.
