Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check airplane mode, Wi-Fi adapter in device manager and manufacturer driver. If the adapter is not detected at all, you may need diagnostics.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Enabling wireless communication
Check the airplane mode and the model's wireless switch.
Steps to follow
- Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
- Select "Network and Internet".
- Turn off Airplane mode and turn on Wi-Fi if the option appears.
- If your computer has a physical wireless switch or Fn button, check your model's manual for its location.
- Open the list of networks near the clock; if there is still no Wi-Fi at all, check the adapter and its driver.
Wi-Fi driver for the model
If the adapter is detected with an error, download its driver through another connection or device.
Steps to follow
- Note down the exact computer model from the sticker or Settings > System > About.
- Open the official support page of the computer manufacturer, enter the model and select the version of Windows installed.
- Download the following package: Graphics, Sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB/Chip or Special Keys. Don't use generic "all drivers" sites.
- Run the downloaded installation file, run the manufacturer's wizard and reboot if prompted.
- Try the function that didn't work again. If there is no network, download the package on another device and transfer to USB.
Undetectable Adapter Diagnostics
If the adapter is not present at all even after a reboot, a detection or hardware check is required.
Steps to follow
- Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
- Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
- Submit a repair request with this information.
If the problem persists
Download the model-specific Wi-Fi driver via another device or Ethernet. If the adapter disappears even after a reboot, do not remove other network devices - diagnostics are required to detect it.
