Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Win+R > services.msc > Print Spooler; try Restart and check the compatibility of recently installed printer drivers.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Queue and service recovery
Cancel jammed jobs and reload the Print Spooler; cleanup will cancel pending jobs.
Steps to follow
- Windows+R > services.msc find Print Spooler and run Restart.
- Cancel the jammed jobs in the printer queue, wait for removal.
- Send one test sheet. If it stops again, don't repeat the reboot alone - you need the related driver and event analysis.
Checking for an incompatible driver
If the service stops again, check the event log for a recently installed printer package.
Steps to follow
- Windows+R type eventvwr.msc and Enter.
- In the System or Applications section of the Windows logs, find the event based on the exact time the service stopped.
- Make a note of the mentioned module and the model of the recently installed printer; only patch the related package with an official update. If not clear, forward the log to an administrator privately.
If the problem persists
Check the Windows event log for when the service stops and which module is mentioned. If the problem started after installing the driver, update or remove only it; print queue management cancels pending jobs.
