Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
A raised touchpad, gaps in the case, or a bulging bottom may indicate a bulging battery. This is not a cosmetic defect. Stop charging and do not press the case when trying to close it.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Safe Shutdown and Power Disconnect
Discontinue use first.
Steps to follow
- If it is safe to do so, turn off the computer and disconnect the charger. Don't start a long backup with an obviously damaged battery.
- Do not press the touchpad or the bottom, do not try to twist the case with screws and do not puncture the battery.
- Place the switched-off device in a safe, ventilated area on a stable, non-flammable surface, away from heat.
- Stop charging and inform the service in advance about the suspected swelling so that the appropriate method of reception can be selected.
Battery replacement and data preparation
This is a case of repair, not software.
Steps to follow
- Write down the exact model of the computer from the documents or external sticker, no longer turning it on just for that.
- Send a picture of the deformation of the case without personal screen data to the service and tell if the battery is hot.
- Ask to check not only the battery, but also the condition of the touchpad, case and other pressed parts.
- Make a copy of the data only after the power supply risk has been safely removed. Do not mail old batteries yourself without checking the conditions of the carrier.
If the problem persists
A blown battery must be safely replaced and disposed of properly. If intense heat is felt, smoke or hissing is visible, do not touch the device and ensure the safety of people. Do not dispose of batteries in regular trash.
