Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Possible failure of the display cable or hinge area. Do not forcefully bend, connect an external display to save data.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Temporary external display
Connect an external monitor and save data with as little lid movement as possible.
Steps to follow
- If the case breaks or the hinge is separated, do not move the lid again.
- After powering off, connect a suitable external display to a supported socket.
- Select the correct input on the monitor, turn on the computer and select an external display in its Display settings, if the image is available.
- Make a copy of important files. This is a temporary use to save data, not a cable or hinge repair.
Cable and hinge repair
If the image depends on the angle, a cable or mechanical inspection is required; bending with force increases the problem.
Steps to follow
- Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
- Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
- Submit a repair request with this information.
If the problem persists
Use an external monitor for backup and keep the lid moving as little as possible. If the hinge is separated or the housing is broken, do not try to clamp it - a mechanical repair is required.
