Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Clean the optical sensor, use a suitable surface, replace the battery and try another USB port.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Sensor and surface
Clean the sensor and test a suitable surface.
Steps to follow
- Turn off the mouse or unplug the mouse.
- Carefully clean the lower optical window with a dry, soft cloth without breaking it.
- Place the mouse on a non-glossy smooth mat, plug it in and compare the movement; glass or shiny surfaces may interfere.
Battery and USB connection
Change the battery for the wireless mouse, try the receiver in another outlet.
Steps to follow
- Turn off the wireless mouse and replace the battery with a new one of the correct type or charge according to the manual.
- If it uses a USB receiver, move it to another direct port on the computer.
- Turn on the mouse and check the movement; do not break the receiver or insert it into a damaged USB.
Other pointer devices
Disconnect another mouse or check the touchpad; compare the problem mouse on another computer.
Steps to follow
- Unplug the extra mouse, tablet, or other pointer-controlling accessory, leaving only one necessary.
- On a laptop, if the external mouse works, turn off the pad for a short time according to the model setting and compare.
- Check the problematic mouse on another computer. If it gets stuck there too, check the mouse; if not, the computer's input settings.
If the problem persists
Disconnect other devices that control the cursor and check if the touchpad is not the culprit. If the problem is only with one mouse, try it on another computer.
