Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
System Settings > Trackpad > Secondary click; select two fingers or a corner.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Trackpad secondary click
Trackpad > Secondary click select two fingers or supported angle.
Steps to follow
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
- Select Trackpad.
- Open the Point & Click section if it appears and enable Secondary click.
- Choose a two-finger tap or a suggested corner tap.
- In the Finder, click on the file of your choice and check the menu.
Control with a click
Control+pressing works as an alternative; for an external mouse, check the separate Mouse setting.
Steps to follow
- Highlight your file in the Finder.
- Hold Control and click once with the pad or mouse.
- A context menu should open; for an external mouse, check the secondary button option in System Settings > Mouse.
If the problem persists
Try Control+click as an alternative. If you're using an external mouse, its secondary click setting is in the Mouse section, not the Trackpad section.
