How to adjust mouse scroll direction on MacBook?

Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

System Settings > Mouse/Trackpad > Natural scrolling; choose the direction that is convenient for you.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Mac scroll direction

Change Natural scrolling to Mouse or Trackpad according to your need.

    Steps to follow

    1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
    2. Select Mouse.
    3. If you are using a pad, select the Trackpad scroll section instead of Mouse.
    4. Toggle the Natural scrolling switch if it appears.
    5. Pan and compare in the document; if the direction is taken by the manufacturer's program, test it separately.
  2. Manufacturer management program

If the direction doesn't change with an external mouse, check its app or other scrolling tool.

    Steps to follow

    1. Make a note of your mouse model and check if its official driver is installed.
    2. In it, find the scroll direction option according to the guide; just change it.
    3. Compare the scrolling in the document. If you're using an extra scroller, change one app at a time to find out why.

If the problem persists

If the external mouse scrolls differently, check its manufacturer's software and Mac Mouse settings. Third-party apps may take control of scrolling; change one setting at a time.
