Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
"Device Descriptor Request Failed" means that Windows was unable to properly identify the USB device. The cause could be the cable, socket, power or the accessory itself. Code 43 alone does not indicate which part is faulty.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Cable vs PC Comparison
Try one part of the circuit at a time.
Steps to follow
- Disconnect the problematic accessory and unnecessary USB devices. If it's a disc, make sure it's not burning.
- Connect directly to the computer without a hub with another known suitable data cable.
- Check another USB port. Write down whether the error occurs everywhere or only in one connection.
- If it is safe and there are no signs of a short, compare the same accessory with the correct cable on another computer.
Device re-discovery
Suitable if hardware tests have not shown a clear failure.
Steps to follow
- Right-click Start > Device Manager > USB Controllers and find the exact entry showing the error.
- Unplug the addon and check if that entry disappears; this will prevent you from uninstalling another device.
- After reconnecting, select "Uninstall device" from the error entry menu, then reboot and reconnect. Do not remove all USB controllers in sequence.
- If the problem persists only on this computer, install compatible chipset and USB packages from its manufacturer, if provided.
If the problem persists
If the add-on does not work on another computer with the correct cable, check the add-on itself. If multiple good accessories are not working in one socket, socket or controller diagnostics are required. Do not use a physically damaged socket.
