The Shark IQ Self-Empty dock duct clogs with hair

Topic #522 · Updated · Pataisoma.lt

Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

The assembly and dust capacity of the Shark IQ vacuum base is different from bagged bases of other brands. Check your model container, filters and available channel. Not all IQs are subject to the same capacity maintenance.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Capacity and robot box inspection

Disconnect the base before disassembling the maintenance parts.

    Steps to follow

    1. Stop the robot and unplug the Self-Empty base.
    2. Empty the base container and check its filters according to the exact IQ model manual.
    3. Clean the robot box and its drain hole of trapped hair.
    4. Clean or wash the filters only according to their instructions, return them fully prepared.
  2. Channel and drain frequency check

    Avoid excessive congestion.

    Steps to follow

    1. Check only the user-accessible duct cover or opening according to the model diagram.
    2. Remove the accessible plug without pouring water into the air duct.
    3. If the model allows you to change the frequency of emptying, adapt it to the amount of hair and do not fill the robot box to a compacted ball.
    4. After assembly, check one cycle. If it clogs again quickly, submit the robot and base models for diagnostics.

Features, menus and error codes depend on the exact robot and dock model and software version. Instructions for another series may not apply.

If the problem persists

If the accessible path is clear and emptying is weak or intermittent, base diagnostics are required. Do not run the base without the necessary filters or an open container.

Request a repair

Before you begin: Before maintenance, stop and switch off the robot and unplug the dock. Do not touch moving parts during operation. If liquid reaches electrical components or the battery is damaged, do not power the device on again until it has been inspected.
