Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Consider j7 charging failure separately from camera navigation. If the robot enters, but the percentage does not increase or the charge disappears, start with contacts and a stable position. Compatibility with Clean Base or another base is also important.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
j7 and base contact check
Follow the model's approved cleaning method.
Steps to follow
- Remove the robot and unplug the base.
- Inspect the contacts on both sides for scale, dirt and burning.
- Clean according to the official instructions without using a wet spray on the base.
- Position the robot correctly and check the actual charging status, not just the glowing ring.
Position and error capture
The error number can help distinguish the battery from the base.
Steps to follow
- Check that the base is on a hard, flat surface and that the wheels are not supported by carpet or wire.
- Let the robot drive in automatically, then watch to see if the charge remains stationary.
- Note the change in battery percentage and the iRobot app charging error if present.
- If it happens again, send the robot with the base together for diagnostics and see if the movement helps temporarily.
Features, menus and error codes depend on the exact robot and dock model and software version. Instructions for another series may not apply.
If the problem persists
If the contacts are damaged or the charging disappears when the robot is not moving, the charging circuit needs to be checked. Do not leave the robot weighted down or bend the contacts in an attempt to "reach" them.
Request a repairBefore you begin: Before maintenance, stop and switch off the robot and unplug the dock. Do not touch moving parts during operation. If liquid reaches electrical components or the battery is damaged, do not power the device on again until it has been inspected.
