Roborock S8 dual rollers repeatedly trigger Error 5

Topic #500 · Updated · Pataisoma.lt

Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

In the S8 two-roller assembly, the cleanliness and correct position of the ends of each roller is important. Error 5 can be left due to hair on the ends, a bad cover or drive, not just a visible large plug.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Cleaning both roller ends

Check every surface, not just the top visible surface.

    Steps to follow

    1. Turn off the S8 and remove the brush cover according to its manual.
    2. Raise both rollers, noting their location and direction according to the diagram.
    3. Remove hair from ends, accessible caps and knot cavity; do not tear the pressed parts.
    4. Assemble according to the marks and lock the cover on both sides.
  2. Test without carpet and part inspection

The load on the carpet can highlight the problem.

    Steps to follow

    1. Choose a short vacuum-only task on a loose hard floor.
    2. If the bug is only on a particular long pile carpet, check the manufacturer's flooring restrictions and temporarily restrict that area.
    3. If the rollers are changed, check the full part codes with your S8 variant.
    4. If the error remains everywhere, record the audio and submit it to Error 5 diagnostics without repeating the stuck starts.

Features, menus and error codes depend on the exact robot and dock model and software version. Instructions for another series may not apply.

If the problem persists

If the correct clean rollers also cause the error on a loose hard floor, a diagnostic assembly is required. Don't confuse the details of the S8 family variants based on name similarity alone.
