Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check the outlet, the charger for power and connection specifications, the charging socket. If the battery is swollen, do not charge or use it again.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Power adapter comparison
Check the socket and only try the correct charger and cable for the model.
Steps to follow
- Try another working outlet and check that all charger connections are tight.
- Check the voltage, power and connector type according to the computer manual; USB-C requires the required PD power.
- If you have another charger that is truly compatible, compare with it instead of using a random plug with the same shape.
- If the socket or cable is damaged, the heater or the battery is deformed, do not charge and ask for inspection.
Charging limit check
If it stops at a constant percentage, check your manufacturer's battery saver settings.
Steps to follow
- See if charging always stops at the same value, such as a set save limit.
- Open the official program of the computer manufacturer and its Battery/Charging section, if available.
- Check the charging limit according to the model manual; if it's a conscious limit, it doesn't necessarily represent a malfunction.
- If charging stops even when the battery is low, check the adapter and battery condition.
Socket and battery diagnostics
If the socket is hot or wobbly, or the battery is swollen, stop charging and call for repair.
Steps to follow
- Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
- Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
- Submit a repair request with this information.
If the problem persists
Try another truly compatible charger and cable; For USB-C, check the required Power Delivery power. Do not charge through a damaged outlet; limiting charging at a set percentage may be normal.
