Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Do not click on the warning links or call the number mentioned in it. In the browser's website settings, check the notification permissions and revoke the permission for unfamiliar websites. View extensions and recently installed apps. Check the status of a real antivirus by opening it through Start or Applications, not through a website advertisement.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Opt-out of website notifications

In the Notifications list of the browser, remove the permission of the unfamiliar site.

    Steps to follow

    1. In Safari, open Settings > Websites > Notifications; Chrome – Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications.
    2. Find an unfamiliar site and revoke its permission to send messages.
    3. Close the message without opening its link and check that you are no longer receiving new ones; it is not disabling all antivirus.
  2. Installed threat check

If you have already run the advertised "cleaner", check the programs and security; disconnect the network after granting access.

    Steps to follow

    1. If you have already granted unwanted remote access, disconnect the network and change passwords only from a secure device.
    2. In Windows Installed programs or Mac Applications, make a note of the recently installed suspicious program. Identify its publisher before deleting.
    3. Use an official app uninstaller and your own real security app, not an adware "cleaner". Contact the administrator on the work computer.
    4. Reload and check the browser; if the threat returns, submit the information for further investigation.

If the problem persists

Check if the alert is a website notification or a genuine security program window. If you have already installed the suggested "cleaner" or granted access, disconnect the network and perform a security check.
