A remote control tool may be installed on the computer

Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Check installed programs and startup; if access has been granted to a fraudster, disconnect the network and change account passwords from another secure device.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Identification of a legitimate application

On the work computer, check with the administrator whether remote access is enabled.

    Steps to follow

    1. In Windows Installed Applications or Mac Applications, type the name of the remote control tool.
    2. If it's a work device, give your administrator the name and ask if the app is provided.
    3. Do not give code or access to an unknown person until confirmed; don't blindly remove legitimate management tools.
  2. Termination of unwanted access

If access is not allowed, disconnect the network, check unattended management and account sessions from a trusted device.

    Steps to follow

    1. If the stranger has already been granted access, terminate the Internet connection: disconnect Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
    2. From another trusted device, access the official security sections of related accounts, change passwords, and end stranger sessions.
    3. Write down the name of the remote tool and ask for its unattended access and computer scan.
    4. If payment details are disclosed, please contact the bank's usual known contact; do not continue to use the bank on the suspicious computer.

If the problem persists

If it's a work computer, first check with your administrator that the tool is legitimate. If access is unwanted, log out of your accounts from a trusted device and check your unattended access settings.
