Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

If the Windows Camera shows the image and the browser call does not, the camera is probably at least partially working. The most common places to check are the site-specific permission, the device of choice, and another app using the camera.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Website permission check

Permission is granted for a specific address.

    Steps to follow

    1. Open the page of a trusted calling site and click the site information or permissions button next to the address.
    2. Set the camera permission to "Allow" for this specific site, then refresh the page.
    3. In the call video settings, select the real camera you want, not a virtual one or an old USB device.
    4. Check that the image is displayed in the preview window before joining the call.
  2. Access to Windows and other applications

Remove the app occupying the camera.

    Steps to follow

    1. Completely close Windows Camera, Teams, Zoom, and other apps that may be using the camera at that time.
    2. In Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera, check the desktop app access required by the browser.
    3. Close and reopen your browser, then make the test call again.
    4. If it still doesn't work, compare with another supported browser. If only one doesn't work, check its plugins and site settings.

If the problem persists

If only one site is not working, check its compatibility and test call. Work browser permissions can be managed by the organization; Do not bypass security policies or grant camera access to untrusted websites.
