The camera does not work in Teams / Zoom

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

1. Cover and physical switch

   Check the camera cover, the Fn button for the model and the connection.

   Steps to follow

   1. Inspect the top of the camera: if there is a sliding cover, open it without breaking it.
   2. Check your model manual for a camera off button or Fn combination on your keyboard.
   3. In the Start search, open "Camera" and check the image; for an external camera, compare direct USB connection.

2. Permissions and program selection

   If Windows Camera is working, check Teams or Zoom's selected camera and site permissions.

   Steps to follow

   1. Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
   2. Select "Privacy & Security".
   3. Select "Camera".
   4. Enable camera access and permission for the required app or desktop apps.
   5. Select the correct camera in Teams/Zoom settings after closing other apps that use it.
   6. Also check the camera permission of that website in your browser. Reopen the call and try.

3. Driver and detection check

   If the camera doesn't work in any app, check its detection and manufacturer's driver.

   Steps to follow

   1. Note down the exact computer model from the sticker or Settings > System > About.
   2. Open the official support page of the computer manufacturer, enter the model and select the version of Windows installed.
   3. Download the following package: Graphics, Sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB/Chip or Special Keys. Don't use generic "all drivers" sites.
   4. Run the downloaded installation file, run the manufacturer's wizard and reboot if prompted.
   5. Try the function that didn't work again. If there is no network, download the package on another device and transfer to USB.
