Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax; turn on the printer and connect to the same network or USB.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Automatic addition

In Printers & Scanners, add an enabled printer on the same network or connected via USB.

    Steps to follow

    1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
    2. Select Printers & Scanners.
    3. Turn on the printer and connect to the same host network or a supported USB.
    4. Click the add button, select the exact device detected and Add.
    5. If allowed, select a supported AirPrint or model driver and print a test.
  2. AirPrint or model manager

If detection does not help, check support for AirPrint or the manufacturer's macOS-specific driver.

    Steps to follow

    1. Check the official printer model description for AirPrint or your macOS support.
    2. If it supports AirPrint, select the suggested method when adding the device.
    3. If you need a template app, just download the manufacturer's package for your macOS and follow the wizard. Try one sheet; for an unsupported version, do not install another model package.

If the problem persists

Check if the model supports AirPrint or if there is a compatible macOS driver. If the printer does not appear on the network, compare USB and manufacturer diagnostics; resetting the printing system removes the entries.
