Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Clean the scanning glass according to the manufacturer's instructions and check that the original is loaded with the correct side up. Select the appropriate document type, brightness, exposure and contrast in the scanning program; try the default settings. DPI changes the detail, not directly the brightness of the image. Compare with copying on the device itself, if supported.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Brightness and exposure options
Restore scan image settings and adjust brightness and contrast; DPI does not light itself.
Steps to follow
- In the scanning program, select the correct document mode, not the incorrect photo mode.
- Click on Preview and change the Brightness/Exposure and Contrast in small steps in the image settings.
- Scan one sheet and open the file; if no improvement, return to default values. Increasing the DPI doesn't make it brighter by itself.
Inspection of glass and optics
Clean according to the manual and compare the copy on the device itself if supported.
Steps to follow
- Turn off the device according to the manual. Clean the accessible scanning glass with the cloth provided in the soft guide without pouring liquid into the device.
- Check the correct side of the original and try a light document.
- If the model copies itself, compare the copy; if it is also dark, an optical inspection is required.
If the problem persists
Reset the scan image settings only and try a light document. If copying directly to the printer is also dark, check the optics; Increasing the DPI does not automatically brighten the image.
