How to fix the problem
The power consumption of Framework expansion cards depends on their generation, slot and computer model. It's important to compare equal conditions: battery drain during sleep and during work are not the same measurement.

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Comparison without additional cards
Determine if a particular supplement really changes the cost.
Steps to follow
- Write down the generation of the computer's processor, the types of cards and the slots they are installed in.
- Save your work, disconnect external devices and remove unnecessary HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-A cards according to the Framework instructions.
- Write down the battery percentage, leave the same work or sleep mode selected and check the percentage again after the agreed time.
- Repeat the test for the same duration with only one suspect card inserted. A clear repeatable difference is more useful than a single random measurement.
Checking card layouts and versions
Choose the sockets recommended for your board.
Steps to follow
- In the Framework knowledge base, select the exact model of the processor, not just "Laptop 13".
- Find the Expansion Card Functionality table for that model and check what features each slot supports.
- Move the card to the recommended slot; check if an official update or newer version is offered for your card version.
- Repeat the measurement of the first method. If there is no difference, return the convenient layout and check for other reasons for the discharge.
If the problem persists
If the battery drains just as fast without the cards, check sleep mode, battery health, and background apps. Please provide measurement duration, start and end percentage and layout of all cards for support.
