Windows 11 / 10 – settings and useful tips

How to change Windows power mode?

Topic #060 · Updated · Pataisoma.lt

Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

In Windows 11, go to Settings > System > Power & battery or Power and select Power mode if available. In Windows 10 or some models, use Power Plans in Control Panel and the manufacturer's program. Higher performance mode may increase heating and battery consumption; it does not fix a hardware problem.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Windows power mode

In the power settings, select the desired mode if this option is provided.

    Steps to follow

    1. Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
    2. Select "System".
    3. Select "Power & Battery".
    4. If the computer is stationary, the section may be called Power.
    5. Under "Energy mode", choose the right mode and compare performance, heating and costs.
    6. If there is no mode, use the model's power plan; best performance mode does not fix the crash.
  2. Energy plan or manufacturer program

If no common mode is available, check the Control Panel blueprint and control program for your model.

    Steps to follow

    1. Type "Control Panel" in the Start search.
    2. Open Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
    3. Select the proposed plan. If the setting is controlled by the manufacturer's program, open it and use only the documented mode.
    4. Repeat your work task and compare the heat and battery life.

If the problem persists

If there is no mode selection, check the Control Panel Power Plan and the manufacturer's control program. Mode names vary by model; rate performance along with heating.
