Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check SSD/HDD health, system files and drivers. If the disk shows errors, copy the data first.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Storage check
Assess disk health and recurring storage events; copy first in case of errors.
Steps to follow
- If the drive disappears, cracks or files are wrong when copying, don't do a long test - first a copy or a professional recovery evaluation.
- In a stable Windows Start, right-click > Device Manager > Disk Devices, and write down the exact model of the disk.
- On the official website of its manufacturer, find the health viewer for the model and open only information or health status.
- Write down warnings, do not try erasure, firmware or long tests. Even the good condition of the SMART does not rule out all problems; give the result to the master.
Checking Windows components and drivers
If the drive is stable, check the system files and strange drivers before the crash.
Steps to follow
- Click on Start and type "cmd" in the search.
- Select "Run as administrator" and confirm if prompted.
- Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.
- If successful, type sfc /scannow and Enter.
- Wait for the end, reload and compare. If the problem started after a specific driver, use its rollback separately; save the files on the failing drive first.
If the problem persists
Compare the drive manufacturer's diagnostics with recurring storage errors. SMART does not guarantee a good drive without warnings; there is no need to repeat intensive checks when the device disappears.
