Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
In Windows 11 network settings, check the option to show the password of a known or connected Wi-Fi network, if provided. Windows 10 available Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Active Wi-Fi > Wireless Network Properties > Security > Show Symbols. Also check your router label or administration; the factory password may have been changed.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Password on the connected device
View your saved Wi-Fi network password on Windows or another device you've already paired.
Steps to follow
- Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
- Select "Network and Internet".
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Open the properties of your known or connected network and look for password display if available.
- Windows 10 Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center click Active Wi-Fi > Wireless Network Properties > Security > Show Symbols.
- Write down your password securely without showing it publicly; if the network has not been saved, this method will not work.
Router data
Check the label or administration of your router; the label password may have been changed.
Steps to follow
- Look for the Wi-Fi and administration details on the sticker on your router - these may be different passwords.
- Check the vendor's setup documentation; the meaning of the sticker may have been changed.
- If the password is unknown, contact your network administrator or provider by providing the model privately. Do not do a factory reset right away.
If the problem persists
Check that the password on the label has not been changed. If none of your devices have saved it, connect the Ethernet to your router or contact your network administrator.
