Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
In Windows Terminal, type ipconfig; The Default Gateway is usually the address of the router. macOS: System Settings > Wi-Fi > Details > TCP/IP > Router.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Windows active connection address
In ipconfig, look at the Default Gateway, non-VPN entry for the adapter in use.
Steps to follow
- Click on Start and type "cmd" in the search.
- Open the Command Prompt program you found.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
- Find an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter.
- IPv4/IPv6 is the local address of the computer and Default Gateway is usually the address of your router. Don't use VPN or broken adapter records.
macOS router address
Wi-Fi > Details > TCP/IP check the Router value for an active connection.
Steps to follow
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Next to the active network, click Details.
- Open TCP/IP and look at the Router address.
- If the value is empty, the connection may not get a valid IP; don't guess the router address.
If the problem persists
Choose the Default Gateway of the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter instead of the VPN address. If it is not there, the device may not get an IP; do not guess the administration address and do not reset the router unnecessarily.
