Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Check the source selected by the display, the HDMI/DP cable, that the PC really boots and that the cable is connected to the active GPU connector.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Input and cable check

Select the exact monitor source and try a different HDMI or DP cable.

    Steps to follow

    1. Check that the monitor is turned on and that it is possible to open its own menu with the buttons on the body.
    2. In the monitor's Source/Input menu, select the exact jack that the cable is connected to, such as HDMI 1 or DisplayPort.
    3. Turn off the computer and display, reconnect the cable firmly at both ends, bypassing the dock or hub if possible.
    4. Turn it on and check the image. If not, after disconnecting the power, try another suitable cable and, if you have one, another screen.
  2. Comparison of computer and monitor

Compare the display to another source and the computer to another display.

    Steps to follow

    1. Turn off that monitor and connect it to another working computer or video source.
    2. Connect the first computer, if you have one, to another known working display with a suitable cable.
    3. Choose the correct entry for each and write down the result. This will tell you which side of the connector is not working; do not change all device settings at once.
  3. Boot Hardware Diagnostics

If the computer does not pass the initial inspection, examine its indicators and components.

    Steps to follow

    1. Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
    2. Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
    3. Submit a repair request with this information.

If the problem persists

Compare the display to another video source, and the computer to another display. If the computer doesn't pass the startup check, changing the cable won't fix the RAM or other hardware problem.
