Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check monitor power, correct Input source and cable. If there is a separate video card, connect the monitor to its output. If the image is not even BIOS, deeper diagnostics are required.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Monitor input and cable
Check the power, correct Input and connect another cable or monitor.
Steps to follow
- Check that the monitor is turned on and that it is possible to open its own menu with the buttons on the body.
- In the monitor's Source/Input menu, select the exact jack that the cable is connected to, such as HDMI 1 or DisplayPort.
- Turn off the computer and display, reconnect the cable firmly at both ends, bypassing the dock or hub if possible.
- Turn it on and check the image. If not, after disconnecting the power, try another suitable cable and, if you have one, another screen.
Adequate GPU connection
If there is a discrete GPU, select its output; The motherboard slot requires a supported integrated graphics.
Steps to follow
- Turn off the computer and monitor.
- On the back of the desktop computer, find the slots for the discrete video card: they are usually in a separate lower part of the case. Check with the pattern diagram.
- If there is a discrete GPU, connect the monitor cable to its appropriate output, not automatically to the slot next to USB.
- Turn on and select the appropriate Input for the monitor. The motherboard video slot will only work with supported integrated graphics.
Boot Hardware Diagnostics
If there is no video after power-on, check the startup indicators and hardware without reinstalling Windows right away.
Steps to follow
- Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
- Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
- Submit a repair request with this information.
If the problem persists
Try a different cable and screen. The motherboard video slot will only work with supported integrated graphics; if the image is not there since power on, reinstalling Windows is not the first step.
