Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Look for battery display and percentage in the macOS settings search. In some versions, the option is located in System Settings > Control Center > Battery, in others, in the battery settings in the menu bar. Turn on battery display and Show Percentage if provided. A difference in menu location is not a battery failure in itself.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Setting the percentage display
In the settings search, find the battery percentage option by macOS version.
Steps to follow
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
- Select Control Center.
- If your version has Battery here, enable Show in Menu Bar and Show Percentage.
- If the section isn't there, look for Battery or Percentage in the settings search and use the menu bar option for your version.
- Check the battery display at the top. Just not showing a percentage does not indicate a battery failure.
Enabling battery in the menu bar
If the battery icon itself is not there, first turn on its display, then the percentage.
If the problem persists
Type Battery or Percentage in the settings search, as the menu location depends on the version of macOS. Also check the battery display in the menu bar; the absence of a percentage does not indicate a battery failure.
