Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Capture the beep sequence, model and BIOS manufacturer. Codes vary; check the manufacturer's manual, don't do blind disassembly.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Determining the model error code

Note the sequence and pattern of the long and short beeps and check the manufacturer's manual.

    Steps to follow

    1. Record the number of long and short beeps and the sequence of flashing lights when turning on the device.
    2. Find the Diagnostics/Beep codes or manual for your exact model on the manufacturer's official website.
    3. Check the sequence and note the indicated diagnostic direction. If you need to open the case, give the sequence to the craftsman, instead of changing the parts according to the general table on the Internet.
  2. Inspection of the specified component

If the code refers to RAM or another part, check it according to the model's instructions or have it checked by a technician.

    Steps to follow

    1. Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
    2. Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
    3. Submit a repair request with this information.

If the problem persists

Note the sequence of long and short beeps and the flashing of the indicators. If the manufacturer indicates a memory error, have the module checked by someone who can safely disconnect the power and follow the model's instructions.
