Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Check NumLock, Fn+NumLock and keyboard layout; on smaller notebooks, some letters may have an integrated numeric pad.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Disabling the digital block

Check NumLock or Fn+NumLock according to the model.

    Steps to follow

    1. According to the keyboard model, find the NumLock or Fn Lock symbol; check their combination in the manual.
    2. Press a documented combination, such as Fn with the specified key; not all models use Fn+Esc.
    3. Open a text editor and test the behavior of letters or special keys. If there is no effect, check the manufacturer's keypack.
  2. Program and layout check

If Notepad writes fine, check the key assignments for the specific application.

    Steps to follow

    1. In the Start search, open Notepad and write a few problematic letters.
    2. Win+Space check input language and compare again.
    3. If everything is fine in Notepad, open the key or control settings of the problematic app and remove only the known misassignment.

If the problem persists

Turn off the built-in number pad according to the model's instructions and test the Notepad. If only one program is typing incorrectly, check its key assignments.
