Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Win+R > cmd > ipconfig or Settings > Network and Internet > Wi-Fi/Ethernet > hardware properties.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
The ipconfig command
At the command line, view the local IPv4 or IPv6 address of the active adapter.
Steps to follow
- Click on Start and type "cmd" in the search.
- Open the Command Prompt program you found.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
- Find an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter.
- IPv4/IPv6 is the local address of the computer and Default Gateway is usually the address of your router. Don't use VPN or broken adapter records.
Communication properties
In the network settings, open the hardware properties of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection you are using.
Steps to follow
- Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
- Select "Network and Internet".
- Open the properties of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection you are using.
- Find IPv4/IPv6 and view local address.
- If there are several adapters, use an active connection, not a VPN; this is not a public web address.
If the problem persists
If you have multiple adapters, select the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the active connection. A local address is not the same as a public Internet address; don't post the full ipconfig report in comments.
