How to fix the problem
System Settings > Displays > Refresh Rate if this option is displayed. Available frequencies vary by Mac, monitor and cable; not all screens are allowed to change Hz.
If the problem persists
Check the frequency supported by the monitor, adapter and cable for the specific resolution. ProMotion is an adaptive mode, so the displayed or instantaneous frequency may not always be the highest.
