Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Settings > System > Display > HDR if supported by display and connector; if the image is worse, check the HDR calibration.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Enabling HDR on the system

Enable the function in the HDR settings of the display, if the display and connection support it.

    Steps to follow

    1. Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
    2. Select "System".
    3. Select "Display".
    4. Select HDR.
    5. Select the supported display you want and enable "Use HDR" if the option is available.
    6. Play known HDR content; the normal desktop view may change.
    7. If the option is not available, check the display and connector support.
  2. Monitor and cable check

If HDR is not available, check its mode on the monitor, connection bandwidth and direct connection.

    Steps to follow

    1. Note which cable is connected to the display and if there is an adapter or dock between it and the computer.
    2. Turn off the devices and, if the sockets allow, connect the display directly to the computer.
    3. On the monitor, select the input into which you inserted the cable. Check the manufacturer's manual for the resolution and frequency supported by the cable and jack.
    4. Once enabled, go back to the display settings and check if the missing resolution, Hz or HDR has occurred. If not, compare with another suitable cable.
  3. Calibration or SDR return

If the HDR image is not correct, refer to the calibration of the specific display or revert to normal SDR.

    Steps to follow

    1. Press the Windows logo key and I together on your keyboard to open Settings.
    2. Select "System".
    3. Select "Display".
    4. Select HDR.
    5. If the image is not correct, turn off "Use HDR" and compare with a normal image.
    6. If you want to proceed with HDR, use the official calibration instructions for your specific display, not random color values.
    7. Compare known photo and HDR content; use the appropriate normal mode if the problem remains.

If the problem persists

Check HDR support in monitor menu, cable bandwidth and direct connection. If colors remain unnatural, return the SDR and check the calibration instructions for your specific display.
