How to fix the problem
System Settings > Displays > Resolution / Show all resolutions; choose a convenient scale. The physical number of pixels on the screen does not change.
If the problem persists
If the text is too small, choose a more comfortable scale, not necessarily the highest resolution. Check the cable and recommended mode on the external display; revert the wrong image change.
