Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Disconnect the VPN and test the connection. If it works without a VPN, check the VPN's DNS, kill-switch, and split tunneling settings.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Another VPN server or newer client
If the internet works without a VPN, try another server and the official client update.
Steps to follow
- Open your VPN app and check if the internet is working after disconnecting from it.
- If this is your personal VPN, choose another server offered and compare; do not change working VPN servers without instruction.
- Install its update from the official app or store. If the problem remains only with the working VPN, report the error to the administrator.
Diagnostics of VPN settings
Check VPN DNS and traffic routing; do not change job kill-switch or split tunneling without an administrator.
Steps to follow
- Make a note of whether you are using a VPN, your organization's proxy, or your own DNS.
- Windows Network and Internet see VPN and Proxy; Mac - Details of the network in use and the installed VPN application.
- Temporarily disconnect your VPN and compare. Do not change your organization's proxy, DNS, or security application options without an administrator.
- Provide the administrator with the domain, the error and the fact whether it is working through another network; do not disable all firewalls.
If the problem persists
Try another VPN server and update the client. Do not change the working VPN settings and kill-switch randomly; if the problem is only with the organization's VPN, report the error text to the administrator.
