Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Discontinue the load and check if the problem recurs at rest. Note the CPU/GPU temperature, the last driver change and the circumstances of the crash. This symptom can be related to GPU, power supply, overheating or other hardware. Check the internal power connections only after completely turning off and unplugging the device, according to the model's instructions; Do not disassemble the PSU.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Temperature and load check
Break the load, compare temperatures and breakdown at rest.
Steps to follow
- Open your model manufacturer's diagnostic or temperature monitoring program; if you don't have it, download it only from the official support site.
- Leave the computer idle for a few minutes and note the CPU and GPU readings.
- Run the normal program causing the problem, not the extra hard test, and watch the difference.
- Compare with the manufacturer's limits for the specific component. If the temperature rises rapidly, shuts down or the fan does not work, stop the test and give the readings to the technician.
Undoing graphic change
If the crash started after changing the driver or GPU frequencies, revert to the previous compatible configuration.
Steps to follow
- Remember what you installed or updated before the first failure. Write down the name of the app or device.
- If it's an app, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and find just that app. Save her documents first.
- Use its official update or "Remove". If it's a driver, in Device Manager, select its Properties > Driver > Roll back driver if allowed.
- Reboot and check if the same error occurs again. If you don't know the change, don't uninstall random programs or drivers.
Power and GPU diagnostics
If it repeats without known changes, a hardware check is needed; check internal connections only with power off.
Steps to follow
- Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
- Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
- Submit a repair request with this information.
If the problem persists
Quit the game or other load and save data. If the problem persists, give the technician the model of the GPU, the nature of the load and the temperatures; do not disassemble the power supply unit.
