Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Monitor CPU/GPU temps and power supply, reset overclock to defaults, check Event Viewer. Instability can be PSU, RAM, GPU or drivers.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Return of standard frequencies

If you overclocked the CPU/GPU/RAM before the crash, undo only those changes.

    Steps to follow

    1. Use this method only if you have previously changed the settings of the processor, video card or RAM acceleration yourself.
    2. Open the same manufacturer program or BIOS menu where you made the change; take a picture of the current value.
    3. Return only your modified frequency, voltage or XMP/EXPO profile to the previous standard mode. Do not select BIOS full reset.
    4. Save and compare performance without acceleration. If you do not know the settings, leave this change to the master; have BitLocker key before BIOS steps.
  2. Comparison of temperature and load

Monitor CPU/GPU temperature and compare crash with other loads.

    Steps to follow

    1. Open your model manufacturer's diagnostic or temperature monitoring program; if you don't have it, download it only from the official support site.
    2. Leave the computer idle for a few minutes and note the CPU and GPU readings.
    3. Run the normal program causing the problem, not the extra hard test, and watch the difference.
    4. Compare with the manufacturer's limits for the specific component. If the temperature rises rapidly, shuts down or the fan does not work, stop the test and give the readings to the technician.
  3. Power diagnostics

If it suddenly turns off without a STOP code, you need to check the PSU or adapter and other components; Do not disassemble the PSU.

    Steps to follow

    1. Save important files if your computer or drive is stable. If it makes unusual noises, smells like burning or the battery is swollen, stop testing.
    2. Write down the exact pattern of when the problem started and what action it took to reoccur. Take a picture of the visible error or deformation without opening the case.
    3. Submit a repair request with this information.

If the problem persists

Try without non-standard frequencies and disconnect unnecessary accessories. If it shuts down suddenly without a STOP code, power and temperature diagnostics are required; a Kernel-Power entry alone does not confirm a PSU failure.
