Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Bluetooth Classic headphones often switch from stereo music to a conversation profile when their microphone is turned on. The sound may become narrower and worse. Newer LE Audio capabilities depend on headphone, computer and system support.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Chat profile verification
Check if the quality is changed by turning on the microphone.
Steps to follow
- Play a familiar music track when calls and voice chat apps are closed.
- Open the call app and turn on the microphone of the Bluetooth headset.
- If the quality deteriorates only then, temporarily select a computer or external microphone in the program's microphone selection.
- Listen again. If the stereo quality returns, the cause is most likely related to the Bluetooth audio profile, not faulty speakers.
Separate microphone or supported connection
Choose a solution based on your available hardware.
Steps to follow
- In the call app, select another microphone as input and leave the desired headphones as output.
- Check the test call and make sure you can hear and be heard.
- If you want to use LE Audio, check the manufacturer's specifications for both PC, headset and Windows support; Bluetooth version number alone is not enough.
- If you need stable gaming sound with a microphone, compare wired USB headsets or a dedicated wireless adapter.
If the problem persists
If you need good stereo sound and a microphone at the same time, try a separate microphone or a dedicated USB/radio solution. Do not disable the headset microphone profile if it is the only way you can speak during a call.
