Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
The G14's microSD card may not be visible due to an unassigned drive letter, the card itself, or the reader. If it contains important files, check its visibility first, not format it.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Checking the drive letter
This method works when the card is detected but not in File Explorer.
Steps to follow
- Insert the card and right-click Start > Disk Management.
- According to the capacity, determine which entry is the microSD. If you are not sure, compare the list after removing and reinserting the card.
- If you see a healthy, Windows-recognized partition without a letter, right-click and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths" and add a free letter.
- If you are prompted to format, initialize, or show RAW, refuse and do not create a new partition until the data is saved.
Separation of card and reader
Check two independent combinations.
Steps to follow
- Insert the same card into another trusted USB reader. Check if the files are visible and copy them if possible.
- Insert another known working compatible card into the G14. Don't format it just for the sake of testing.
- Download the card reader driver for the G14 from the full model code on the ASUS support page, if offered.
- After installation, reboot and try again. If the scanner is still not in Device Manager, send it to diagnostics.
If the problem persists
If the reader does not see any working cards and the same cards work in the external reader, check the G14 model reader driver and hardware. If only one card is down, set it aside for data recovery.
