Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
0x800f0922 is not a diagnosis of one specific part or partition failure. The reason should be related to the failed package and installation log. Do not resize the EFI partition just by reading this code.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Package and connection verification
Start with reversible steps.
Steps to follow
- In the Windows Update history, write down the failed KB number, the error, and the time it occurred.
- Check free space, reload and complete other pending updates.
- If it's a PC and Windows Update is running over a non-required VPN, compare a reliable connection without it. Do not disable work safety measures.
- Check the Microsoft page for known issues with that particular KB and for a newer package that has replaced it.
Log and system health check
Do not move partitions until the cause is determined.
Steps to follow
- In admin terminal run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, after success run sfc /scannow.
- If the update still fails, note the exact time and check the relevant C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and DISM logs.
- If you don't understand them, give the KB and error time to a specialist instead of running a random EFI upgrade script.
- Choose component repair, official repair or partition work with backup based on the identified reason.
If the problem persists
If the logs indicate a problem with the system partition or boot files, perform the rebuild only with a copy, the BitLocker key, and the package-specific official instructions. Check the VPN and policy of the work computer with the administrator.
