Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Check the signal closer to the router, 2.4/5 GHz bands, influence of walls. Use a properly constructed mesh access point or Ethernet if necessary.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Better router location
Compare speeds close to your device and remove unnecessary signal obstructions.
Steps to follow
- Check the connection close to the router and in the problem room with the same device.
- If it works nearby, place the router higher, more open and closer to the points of use based on cable and power options.
- Do not place behind large metal objects or in closed furniture; do not damage the supplier's optical cable.
- Repeat the test in both locations and compare.
Another supported Wi-Fi band
Compare 2.4 and 5 GHz based on your equipment support and distance.
Steps to follow
- Open the Wi-Fi list on your watch and approach your router.
- If your bands have separate names, try a supported 2.4 or 5 GHz network with your own password.
- Compare the same list on your phone or other device. If one does not see 5/6 GHz, check its adapter support by model.
- If the band names are generic or there is no choice, don't rename them randomly - check your router's manual.
Additional access point or cable
Place the mesh point where there is still a good connection; Ethernet is available for a stable workplace.
Steps to follow
- If you are using a mesh, connect the first point according to the manufacturer's wizard.
- Place an additional point between the router and the weak area where it still receives a good connection; this is shown by its program indicator.
- Check the Internet at the final workplace. If a point has a weak connection, move it closer to the first point.
- If a permanent connection is required and available, connect the computer to the router's LAN with a suitable Ethernet cable.
If the problem persists
Compare the speed at the router and in the problem room. Place the additional mesh point where it still receives a good connection, and not in the very area without a signal.
