Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
When the same RAM module fails in only one slot, the fault may be on the side of the slot, channel or processor pins. The comparison must be made without EXPO / XMP and with the sockets allowed by the manual, as not every single module location is recommended.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Comparison of single module and sockets
Completely disconnect the power before each transfer.
Steps to follow
- Disable the RAM acceleration profile and note the module model.
- Find the allowed single module slots in the manual and test the recommended location first.
- After turning off and disconnecting the power, move the same module to another allowed slot and repeat the same test.
- Make a note of the result of each slot, rather than just relying on a successful Windows startup.
Second module and channel diagnostics
Check if the bug is tracking a location or a detail.
Steps to follow
- If you have another compatible known-good module, check it in the same allowed locations.
- If the same socket is faulty for both modules, record the board indicator and test result.
- If both single-channel slots are down, note if the CPU or cooler has been replaced recently.
- Pass for socket, channel and CPU pin check. Do not diagnose a full channel problem as two RAM modules failing at the same time without testing.
If the problem persists
If errors follow the same slot with multiple good modules, report the results to service. Do not clean the contacts with a metal object or liquid, and do not disassemble the CPU socket just by guessing. Also test the working temporary configuration.
