Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
EXPO and XMP are additional memory speed profiles. If you start getting errors after turning them on, first compare with the standard settings. This helps determine if the profile is incorrect or if errors occur without it.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Standard mode comparison
Change only the memory profile.
Steps to follow
- Save important data, as unstable memory can corrupt the files you are recording.
- Open BIOS and take a picture of the current EXPO / XMP selection and RAM frequency.
- Change the memory profile to "Disabled" or the standard "Auto" according to the manual of the board. Do not change other parameters.
- Repeat the same program or test after launching. If the errors are gone, leave stable mode for now.
Compatibility check and tests
Judge by repeatable results.
Steps to follow
- Write down the exact RAM kit code, board model, processor and BIOS version.
- Check the board support page for support for that kit and BIOS memory compatibility patches.
- Using a reliable memory test, repeat the test in standard mode; the test must show zero errors.
- If there are errors, check one module at a time in the recommended slot or send it to diagnostics. Test errors alone do not identify a specific module.
If the problem persists
If the memory fails even after disabling the profile, check the modules, sockets, and the processor's memory subsystem. If there are only errors with the profile, do not use it until compatibility is checked. Manually raising the voltages is not a necessary initial repair.
