Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Roborock Error 4 is associated with fall detection; dark or long hair cover can affect the sensor evaluation. First compare to a safe light hard floor and wipe the sensors.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Official Error 4 check
Test without the risk of falling.
Steps to follow
- Turn off the robot and wipe all the bottom drop sensor cells with a dry, soft cloth.
- Check that the robot rests completely on the floor and is not hanging on the edge of the carpet.
- Run a short test run on a smooth, bright surface away from the stairs.
- Compare with the problem area of the carpet and write down whether the error depends only on it.
Safe carpet avoidance
Keep all fall protection.
Steps to follow
- If the model allows, set a no-take zone on the map.
- Temporarily remove the carpet and check that the route is running normally again.
- If the error remains even without a carpet, do not restore the sensors with tape or magnets.
- Provide the manufacturer's support with the model, Error 4 and test results on different surfaces.
Features, menus and error codes depend on the exact robot and dock model and software version. Instructions for another series may not apply.
If the problem persists
If the bug is only on a specific carpet, use a safety barrier or other covering. Capping the sensors may allow the robot to fall down the stairs and is not a good everyday solution.
Request a repairBefore you begin: Before maintenance, stop and switch off the robot and unplug the dock. Do not touch moving parts during operation. If liquid reaches electrical components or the battery is damaged, do not power the device on again until it has been inspected.
