Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
In the login window, select "I forgot my PIN" if the option is provided and confirm your account. Don't confuse your PIN with your Microsoft account password.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
PIN recovery option
In the login window, select I forgot my PIN if displayed and confirm your account.
Steps to follow
- In the sign-in window, select the "I forgot my PIN" option if displayed.
- Sign in to your account using the verification method offered; do not share the code with anyone.
- Create a new PIN and verify your login. If the option is not available or the account is managed by an organization, use the password option or admin.
Password login
If you know your account password, use Login Options; PIN and password are different.
Steps to follow
- In the login window, click "Login Options".
- Select the password icon if provided and enter a known account password, not a PIN.
- Once signed in, go to Accounts > Sign-in options and follow the PIN change wizard. If you don't know your password, choose official account recovery.
If the problem persists
Select Sign-in options and try your account password if known. If the account is managed by an organization, coordinate PIN recovery with the administrator; don't delete login data folders blindly.
