Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

Use a compatible HDMI/USB-C adapter or AirPlay if supported. In System Settings > Displays, select mirror or extended mode.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Wired HDMI connection

Use a compatible cable or adapter and select the correct input on the TV.

    Steps to follow

    1. See what video slots your computer and TV or monitor have.
    2. Turn off the devices and connect the correct HDMI or other cable supported by the model; use an adapter that supports the image if necessary.
    3. Press Source/Input on the TV remote and select the socket you connected to, eg HDMI 2.
    4. After turning on the computer, select duplicating or extending in its Display settings. For sound, select the TV separately in the audio output list.
  2. AirPlay wireless connection

If your TV and Mac support it, use AirPlay on an accessible network, subject to network isolation.

    Steps to follow

    1. Check that the TV supports AirPlay and that your devices are accessible in the same network context.
    2. From the Mac menu bar, open Control Center > Screen Mirroring.
    3. Select your TV and enter the on-screen confirmation if prompted.
    4. If the TV is not visible, check its AirPlay setting and network isolation; do not select a foreign device.

If the problem persists

Select the correct HDMI input on your TV and check the video support of the adapter. For AirPlay, the devices must be properly accessible on the network; guest network isolation may interfere.
