Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
In System Settings > Displays, select the desired display and in its Use as option, select Main Display if displayed. Change the layout of the screens in Arrange. In older macOS, the home screen can be set by dragging the white menu bar in the screen layout. If mirroring is used, check the advanced mode option first.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Home screen option
Under Displays, select the display and Use as > Main Display if provided.
Steps to follow
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left and select System Settings.
- Select "Displays".
- Select the display you want and Use as > Main Display if your version shows.
- In Arrange view, arrange schematics according to actual location.
- Open a new window and check the selected home screen.
Older macOS menu bar
In the older screen layout view, if available, drag the white menu bar to the desired screen.
Steps to follow
- For older macOS, open Arrangement in System Preferences > Displays.
- If you see a white menu bar in the screen diagram, drag it to the desired screen.
- Check the home screen selection. If this view is not available, use the Use as option for your version.
If the problem persists
Select the desired display and check Use as > Main Display if the option is displayed. In mirror mode, you may need to switch to advanced first; menu location depends on macOS.
