Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc or right-click on Start > Task Manager.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Direct key combination
Ctrl+Shift+Esc opens the Task Manager.
Steps to follow
- Hold Ctrl and Shift, press Esc.
- If a short list of programs opens, click More information, if available.
- Select Processes or Performance by task; do not terminate unknown system processes.
Security menu or command
If the combination doesn't work, choose Ctrl+Alt+Del > Task Manager or Win+R > taskmgr.
Steps to follow
- Press Ctrl, Alt and Del together.
- Select "Task Manager" from the menu that opens.
- If the option is not available, type taskmgr in the Windows+R window. If the feature is restricted by your organization, contact your administrator.
If the problem persists
Try Ctrl+Alt+Del > Task Manager or Win+R > taskmgr. If disabled by organization policy, contact your administrator; don't remove restrictions blindly.
