Troubleshooting guide
How to fix the problem
Often occurs when entering sleep/shutdown mode. Update the manufacturer's chipset, graphics, Wi-Fi and power management drivers.
Possible solutions
Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.
Operation without external accessories
Compare sleep and wake with no dock or unconnected USB devices.
Steps to follow
- Save the documents and shut down the computer normally.
- Disconnect unnecessary USB drives, hubs, docks and other recently connected accessories. Leave the power supply, display and necessary keyboard.
- Turn it on and repeat the action that caused the failure.
- If it works now, turn it off and plug in the accessories one by one and try each one. This will determine which device the problem is returning with.
The associated device driver
If the problem is related to one device, check the power management drivers for it and the model.
Steps to follow
- Note down the exact computer model from the sticker or Settings > System > About.
- Open the official support page of the computer manufacturer, enter the model and select the version of Windows installed.
- Download the following package: Graphics, Sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB/Chip or Special Keys. Don't use generic "all drivers" sites.
- Run the downloaded installation file, run the manufacturer's wizard and reboot if prompted.
- Try the function that didn't work again. If there is no network, download the package on another device and transfer to USB.
If the problem persists
Compare sleep and wake performance without docks and USB accessories. If the problem is related to one device, check its driver; do not change power settings for all devices at once.
