Troubleshooting guide

How to fix the problem

There may be incorrect boot/registry settings or corrupted files. In the recovery environment, try Startup Repair and System Restore.

Possible solutions

Choose the method that matches your situation. Start with the simplest suitable option and check the result. If the problem is fixed, you do not need to continue with the other methods.

  1. Startup Repair

If Windows won't start, start by repairing the startup environment in recovery.

    Steps to follow

    1. Have a copy of important files and BitLocker key. If the drive disappears or makes noises, do not start this repair.
    2. In the available login window, Shift+Restart will open recovery; otherwise, choose "Repair your computer" instead of install from the prepared Windows USB.
    3. Open Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair and select the system you need.
    4. Wait for completion and test the launch. If the repair fails, write a message; do not delete partitions.
  2. System restore point

If there is a valid point before the failure, evaluate System Restore with a backup.

    Steps to follow

    1. First, save the files and prepare the BitLocker key. Open Windows Recovery Environment via Shift+Restart or Recovery USB > Repair PC.
    2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    3. If there is a point before the crash, review the date and affected apps before confirming. If there is no dot, skip this method.
    4. Wait for completion and check if Windows starts. It is not a substitute for backing up your documents.
  3. Uninstalling the latest update

If the problem started after the update and recovery allows, check the option to remove it.

    Steps to follow

    1. If the login window is available, hold Shift and choose Power > Restart. If not, use a ready-made Windows recovery USB > Repair your PC.
    2. Have BitLocker recovery key; menu, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Uninstall updates.
    3. If the problem is right after an update, choose to uninstall the last quality update if the system allows it. A copy of the files must be prepared before the restore.
    4. Reboot and test launch. If the option is not available or the drive is unstable, do not try boot commands randomly.

If the problem persists

If there is no restore point, check the possibility of uninstalling the latest update. Do not copy random registry backup files or repair boot commands without checking the disk and partitions.
